接受道歉，是要用accept 還是 receive？

一樣都是「接受」，用法有什麼不同？

accept vs. receive

 

兩字都有「接受」的意思，但accept 是「經考慮並欣然接受」；

receive 則是「被動地接受對方所給予的東西」。

 

看一下例句：

 

accept

—接受邀請

She accepted the invitation to the party.

她接受了參加派對的邀請。

 

—接受提議或條件

He accepted the terms of the agreement.

他接受了協議條款。

 

—接受道歉或解釋：

After putting myself in your shoes, I accepted your apology. 

在設身處地為你著想後，我接受了你的道歉。 

 

—在心理上的接受：

It took him a long time to accept that he was wrong."

他花了很長的時間才接受自己錯了。

 

receive 

—收到物品

I received a letter from John, who is doing the military service in Taichung.

我收到了一封來自正在台中服兵役的約翰的信。

 

—獲得獎項或認證

She received an award for her work.

    她因工作傑出獲得了獎項。

 

—接收訊息

The station receives signals from the satellite.
